Active for Life Classes (Development)

As you might have gathered, the Phoenix Climbing programme offers quite a wide range of classes across the week. Progression across our classes was intended feel intuitive and offer learners several natural pathways:

Flexibility
Learners can enrol in any Exploratory / Development classes (weekday or weekend) classes at the start of every Season. Switching between different classes every Season is possible to support your scheduling needs, broaden your experience or simply to sample what our programme has to offer.
Familiarity
We recommend the new learners stay with their chosen class for at least 2 Seasons before switching to allow for deeper learning through repetition, and more meaningful growth through familiarity.
Focus
If you have found a discipline of climbing that you enjoy greatly, it may be time to deepen that passion by signing up for one of the age-appropriate Advance classes, specialised classes, or even try out for one of our competition teams!
Freedom
Fancy taking a break from climbing or trying a different activity for a Season? Go right ahead! Our Exploratory classes are available to everyone across the entire school year, so you can resume your learning journey at any time.

Our Development Classes

We have designed our Development classes to adopt and apply a progressive development model that supports long-term athlete development (LTAD). The table below will offer a clearer understanding of how each

level leads into the next, how different classes overlap and interact to support learning at each level.

In general, we recommend that every learner approaches our classes with some awareness of their own pace. While some of us feel compelled to hurry along our structure and are motivated by a high level of challenge, many of us may find ourselves more suited to a more evenly-paced and gradual approach, staying with age-appropriate Development classes to enjoy the processes of learning and mastery.

There is never a need to rush. Our classes and coaches are dedicated to ensure that there will be a suitable level of challenge and ample learning opportunities at every level, no matter what age-group you belong to.
