A very warm welcome to the residential community at UWCSEA East!
At Tampines House, our students encounter a learning environment in which they can develop their skills and qualities in preparation for living independently. Boarding students become better self-managers and more resilient as they learn how to work, socialise, and follow their passions on their own while under the guidance and care of the boarding team. They also become more self-aware – thanks to the interaction with students from a broad range of cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds, with one quarter of our resident students being scholarship students selected via the UWC National Committees directly or via combined selection processes with UWCSEA.
For the 2020/2021 school year, our community will comprise around 150 students from around 56 different countries as you can see in the map. This global community contributes to a unique programme of events and activities such as student-led talks on each of the countries represented in our community, themed dinners, movie nights, and even impromptu Bollywood dance flash mobs!
This year, we will have seven resident staff and their families (five Houseparents, one Deputy Director of Residential Life and one Director of Residential Life), a team of Assistant Houseparents, two Boarding Counsellors, two Boarding Interns, and a team of Boarding Services Executives – all 29 of us working together to ensure that the students under our care have the best possible learning experience.
The team members come from 15 different countries, and bring to our community a range of interests, languages, education backgrounds but, above all, a desire to be involved in educating young people well beyond the classroom.
We are currently busy getting everything ready to welcome our new members to our residential community at Tampines House in August. We can't wait for our new boarders to join our friendly, diverse and dynamic community!
If you want to know more about us, there are several ways in which you can do so:
On the Tampines House website, you will find lots of information broken up in different sections: what to bring and what not to bring to Singapore; what documents you will need; what your schedule will be like; and so on. We will be updating this site over the next months, so please check it from time to time, though we will send you email updates as well.
Via the links on the right, visit our Tampines House blog and Twitter feed where we give updates from our community. If you are active on Twitter, please use the hashtag #TampinesHouse in related tweets.
You can check out the Tampines House virtual tour on the right or view on an online map, such as Google Map if you have not visited our campus yet or would like to take a virtual tour.
Our new boarders will receive several messages from us over the next weeks with more information, but you are more than welcome to contact us on our duty team email account or through your BSE email account for general enquiries.
