Select a common platform where students can access work and find support and resources (for both online and non-online work)
Develop a standardized framework for remote learning in your district, knowing it may vary by grade level/band.
Consider synchronous versus asynchronous learning or blended approaches
Connecting remote learners to classrooms via video (Zoom, Meet)
Recording classroom lessons/live streaming
Align virtual coursework to district curriculum so transition from programs is as seamless as possible.
Create clear expectations for staff, students and parents about what remote school work consists of and how students will be accountable.
Create a handbook specifically for online learners
Identify how work will be submitted, graded, and how assessment will occur before the school year begins. Apply these requirements consistently with all remote learners.
Create a strong support plan/team for remote learners.
Provide training for parents and students on the digital learning platform, expectations, and how to get assistance.
Create “how to” videos that can be accessed on the district website for students and parents
