All students will be staying on 9th gens next school year across all our elementary schools. Kinder through 4th grade iPads can be left signed in as-is and follow the student to their next grade. 5th grade iPads will be Jamf Reset and roll down to incoming kinders.
Consider working with your administrators and relocate the iPads to a location outside the classroom.
** Bend Senior High, due to construction at their site and the relocation of their library, will have thier students keep their iPads this summer. The remaining schools will be rolling-in iPads with minimal exceptions. Students will check in their iPad over the summer to minimize device loss and damage**
Middle school iPads are staying at school next year so we need students to turn in all bricks and cords during roll-in. Whatever doesn't come back needs to be purchased so that iPads can be charged at school. No new devices are being purchased so schools are staying on the devices they have currently.
All iPads being rolled in. Students must turn in their bricks & cords for be fined. These will be used in classrooms for charging next year. Box up bricks and cords separately so they can be distributed to classrooms in the fall. Fines will be assessed for missing items or damage to cover and/or iPad.
8th graders will need to Jamf Reset their iPads and turn them in with bricks & cords. These will be used in classrooms for charging next year. Box up bricks and cords separately so they can be distributed to classrooms in the fall. Fines will be assessed for missing items or damage to cover and/or iPad.
All iPads being rolled in. Students are keeping their bricks & cords. Fines will be assessed for missing items or damage to cover and/or iPad.
11th grade students will keep their iPads to access college readiness services over the summer.
Seniors will need to Jamf Reset their iPads and turn them in with bricks & cords. Fines will be assessed for missing items or damage to keyboard cover/iPad.
BLPO summer school students:
BLPO will get a list of students taking summer school by June 1 to all secondary Tier 1's.
BLPO students keep their iPads until June 5th when their online spring courses are complete.
If a student is planning to use their personal device they'll need to set up MFA with their school's Media Manager or Tier 1 support before leaving for the summer.
K–5th Grade
Keep the current case on the device unless it can no longer adequately protect the iPad for next year.
For 5th-grade devices being reassigned to kindergarten students next year, remove and discard any cases that need replacement.
Send the total number of replacement cases needed to Roy Fuller.
A16 Cases – Current 6th–7th Grade
These students will receive the same iPad and case back next year, so only inspect cases for major damage.
As long as the case still provides reasonable protection, leave it in service.
Cases missing a front cover should be replaced and fined.
If a kickstand is broken or missing, leave the case on the device. Students can continue using it without the kickstand.
If a student would like a replacement case, they may purchase one.
A16 Cases – Current 8th Grade
As in previous years, we will replace damaged cases for next year's 6th-grade students (or kindergarten students at WSV and TRS).
If a case is still in good condition and suitable for another year of use, leave it on the device.
If you would not feel comfortable issuing the case to an incoming student, remove it.
Have students remove stickers and clean the cases before collection. We would like to reuse as many cases as possible, although we understand the reuse rate for 8th-grade cases may be lower.
9th Gen Cases – Grades 6–8
Keep the current case on the device unless it can no longer adequately protect the iPad for next year.
Remove cases that need replacement and send the total number of replacement cases needed to Roy Fuller.
Replacement Case Counts
Please keep a running tally of all damaged cases that need replacement and send the final count to Roy Fuller.
Replacement cases will be delivered to schools over the summer.
9-10th grade: Assume the case works and check it in. We would like to defer fines until senior year.
11th grade: Not checking these.
12th grade: Verify working and in good condition before Jamf Reset. Pull down on screen and type in search box and move mouse cursor around to verify working. Have the student wipe down the keyboard case with provided wipes. We need to think of these more like textbooks where we expect signs of use - these cases will not be pristine going forward.
Guidelines for assessing fines:
No chunks missing/openings from edge of case
Closure flap still functions
Kickstand still holds up the iPad
No rips/tears on the connection between the top of the keyboard and the case
Only Apple bricks will be accepted. Do not accept cell phone chargers, Samsung, etc. Apple bricks are often much heavier than off-brand bricks.
6-8th grade: Fine for missing & damaged bricks & cords.
9-11th grade: Not turning in. Students will keep these over summer.
12 grade A16: Needs to appear to be the correct cable in color, length. Fine for missing and damaged bricks & cords.
Just a reminder for bricks/cords, those counts need to go to your Office Manager who will need to get that order in before they leave for the summer. If they wait until they get back in August, those replacements may not show up in time before school starts.
