With Family Sharing, families can share access to Apple services - including App Store purchases, Screen Time restrictions and more. The problem, however, is that adding students' school issued iPad to Family Sharing creates problems that end up resulting in their device not working correctly for the student at school. The most obvious symptom is all the apps disappearing on the iPad. This is due to a non-district approved app being installed on the device.
To avoid issues caused by joining a Family Sharing group, do NOT use a personal Apple Account on a school issued, district-owned iPad.
If an iPad was joined with Family Sharing, view this article and follow the steps to remove it under the section Stop Family Sharing on your iPhone or iPad with iOS18, iPadOS 18, or later.
