Speak&Act: Public Speaking for Global Citizenship is an Erasmus+ KA2 project implemented between 2022 and 2025. The project was coordinated by Liceo Scientifico Statale “Galileo Galilei” (Perugia, Italy), with the participation of FORMA.Azione srl (Perugia, Italy), VI Liceum Ogólnokształcące in Bydgoszcz (Poland), Agrupamento de Escolas de Parede (Portugal), and Za in proti, zavod za kulturo dialoga (Ljubljana, Slovenia).

The project addressed the needs of both teachers and students in integrating Citizenship Education into school curricula and developing public speaking skills. Inspired by the ideas of Hannah Arendt, the project promoted speech and debate as essential forms of democratic action. Students developed civic, social, and personal competences, learning to express themselves, influence their environment, and act as engaged citizens.

Through international exchanges, competitions, and training activities, participants broadened their perspectives and built a community of public speaking practitioners, using debates, podcasts, and TED Talks within the context of Citizenship Education.

To encourage active participation and practical engagement, the project partners organized national and international competitions, including the final event in Perugia (30 September–4 October 2024). A virtual transnational mobility also took place, fostering exchange among schools and supporting the joint planning of the dissemination event in Brussels—giving the project a tangible European democratic dimension.

Key Project Results (in figures):

80% of students improved their public speaking skills
85% increased their civic engagement
90% enhanced their soft skills (communication, teamwork)
80% of teachers observed better integration of key competences and subject content
