I chose this first article to be a supplementary resource to our course textbook. The article goes into more detail about UDL and it’s application to fields in the arts. This article describes certain aspects of the UDL process in more detail. It also gives examples that I had not thought of in regard to the process. It starts with an overview of UDL. Then it explains how arts can use UDL in its three areas. The article ends with a brief synopsis on how this can impact the future of the education system.
I chose this second article to get information, and examples on what a lesson plan that has incorporated UDL looks like. This will hopefully give me ideas on how to set up the information I receive into a clear lesson plan template. The article is a quantitative study of 72 students. These students were assigned to groups at random and asked to incorporate UDL into lesson plans. All of the students had at least a one hour class on what UDL is. The article ends with the findings, limitations, and applications from the study.
I chose this third article to learn about planning and assessing for students with disabilities in terms of a lesson plan. It begins by listing the specific needs of students with disabilities, but it was very different from what we had learned in class already. Some examples used in this article presented different ways for me to find applications to use in my own classroom. The next point presented some interesting alternative assessments to consider for a lesson plan. It also encourages staying ahead of many possible outcomes, because of the variety of students in each class.
