Service Learning Activity 2

Who

This is an activity for music educators to use with their students to make transitions to starting class smoother.

How

1.  Begin by playing a chord progression of I-IV-V-I on the piano or guitar if available in a percussive manner 

2. Instruct the class to "follow me!" 

3. Give class movement instructions for each time through the progression

4.  First time through : "Clap with me"

5. Second time " Stomp with me"

6. Third time " pat your knees"

7. Fourth time " jump with me"

8. Fifth time "have a seat with me"

9. End with one last playing of the chord progression
