This resource has been created for older adults
Gathering together and playing games and doing puzzles was something that the older adults in the Jacksonville, Illinois area enjoyed. It was a fun way to socialize and engage with others. Since the Covid-19 pandemic began in March of 2020, game night gatherings have been limited. For my third activity I will be creating a game that can be played via Zoom and will help meet the need of gathering together to socialize while still being COVID safe.
I have created a virtual Jeopardy game for the older adults to play via Zoom. The theme of the Jeopardy board is music. There will be questions about popular artists, songs, albums, and lyrics from the preferred music genres of the older adults in attendance. The Jeopardy game will be facilitated over Zoom, and the participants will be assigned randomly into teams so that they can work together and collaborate on answers.
Multiple Means of Representation- The questions on the jeopardy boards will include both visual and audio components. This way there are multiple ways for the participants to be presented the questions.
Relationship Skills- By being placed into teams, the participants will have opportunities to practice teamwork, communicating effectively, and developing positive relationships.
Create virtual Jeopardy board before the Zoom game night
Once the Zoom meeting begins hold time for introductions and explanation of the game
Divide the group into teams
Use a random number generator to decide what team goes first
Facilitate the game be clicking on all the questions and keeping track of the points as the team scores
Once the game is finished allow time at the end for group members to talk with each other and socialize
