Who: Elementary Music Teachers

Why, What and How: This project would focus on Elementary Music teachers and assess their needs/willingness to learn about Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and how it could apply to their classrooms.  I suspect some teachers could be stressed while trying to differentiate instruction for students and classes with differing needs. This suspicion will be investigated through structured interviews with elementary music teachers to see their knowledge of UDL, how they might use it in their classroom, and what resources they may need to help them learn UDL. If the interviews reveal that do not want to learn about UDL, I will look towards the teachers for guidance on what type of supports they may be needing right now in the field in reference to special education.

Previous Experience with Population: Having been an elementary music teacher, I have been in their shoes. My experience with them also includes my work with student teachers who are currently working with elementary music teachers. I also have experience interacting with these teachers through state and national conferences.

 Possible Experts / Organization to interview and talk with: I will interview 2-3 elementary music teachers.
