The Sikyop Agriculture Cooperative celebrated a significant milestone in sustainable agriculture today with the successful implementation of its hydroponics farming initiative. This achievement marks a key success in the second year of the "Organic Farming to Improve Income Security for Brgy. Rogongon’s Farmers" extension project.
Led by Engr. Karl C. Ondoy of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Technology (DCHET), the project empowers local communities by promoting sustainable farming practices and boosting income security for vulnerable households. The introduction of hydroponics, a water-based farming method, represents a significant step towards achieving these goals.
The MSU-IIT Muslim Students’ Association plans to conduct a community outreach program in selected local Torils and Madrasah of Balo-i, Lanao Del Norte, entitled “Nutri-Ed: A Nutrition and Education Literacy Outreach Program”. This is aimed at addressing immediate needs through the Nutrition and Education Literacy program and provisions of education materials to address the critical needs of underprivileged children, particularly orphans and economically disadvantaged backgrounds. The need for this program is evident when many individuals struggle to access basic necessities and educational opportunities. This aims to combat hunger among vulnerable children by providing lectures on the significance of accessing food nutrition and security, thereby increasing participants’ insecurity. Also, through provisioning educational materials and promoting educational opportunities, they seek to empower these young minds and promote a conducive environment for their academic growth.
