SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy

In the face of rising environmental degradation, energy scarcity and the growing need for sustainable innovations, the Cleanergy Stove emerges as a practical, revolutionary and life-changing solution that seamlessly blends clean cooking technology with renewable energy generation.

MSU-IIT, through the WE CARE Office spearheaded by Dr. Rosario L. Reserva and the Project Team Leader, Dr. Alexander O. Mosqued, developed a Clearnegy Stove, an innovative solution that addresses the challenges of cooking, clean energy and environmental sustainability in developing regions where energy access is a challenge. The general aim of this project is to distribute cleanergy stoves to Iliganons from the mountainous part of the city. This project also aims to forge partnerships with the barangay government units for the immediate deployment and distribution of the stoves. 

During the turnover ceremonies held last December 18, 2024, at Brgy. Tipanoy and December 20, 2024, at Brgy. Mandulog, Iligan City, a total of four Cleanergy stoves were donated, with two stoves given to each barangay. 

The Cleanergy Stove addresses SDG 7, Affordable and Clean Energy, with its key features. The stove features high thermal efficiency and can use various biomass materials, such as wood, agricultural residues, and even organic waste.  This stove has been designed with the needs of underprivileged and disaster-affected communities in mind, ensuring that clean cooking and access to electricity are no longer luxuries but essential for everyone.
