Ripple Effect of Progress : Clean Water
On July 5th, 2024, a wave of hope washed over the vibrant community of Brgy. Luinab in Iligan City as residents gathered together in joy and anticipation for a life-changing event. The MSU-IIT Water and Sanitation Project (WASAP) proudly turned over a SkyHydrant to the community, marking a significant milestone in their long journey towards accessing safe, clean water. For years, the residents had faced the daunting challenge of unreliable water sources, and that struggle finally came to an end, culminating in a heartfelt celebration that echoed the spirit of resilience and unity within the community.
The celebration was spearheaded by the dedicated Prof. Sulpecia L. Ponce, whose commitment to the community resonated deeply with everyone present. Local leaders, partnered organizations like the Balay Mindanaw Foundation Inc., and representatives from Disaster Aid Australia also joined in this momentous occasion, adding their voices to the chorus of gratitude and hope. Together, they honored the courage and perseverance of the community, which had long endured the hardships brought on by water scarcity.
Hon. Gilberto Agbay, the barangay captain, spoke proudly, about the efforts and struggles that led to this important moment. The guests, full of happiness, raised their glasses to celebrate the clean, fresh water, their smiles showing how much this project meant to them—their hopes and dreams were now possible.
This remarkable milestone, achieved through the collective effort of partners and community members, serves as a powerful reminder of what can be accomplished when people come together for a common cause. For the residents of Brgy. Luinab, the steady flow of clean water heralds the dawn of a healthier, more vibrant future, where children can play freely, families can thrive, and where the promise of a better tomorrow is no longer just a dream, but a reality that they can live every day.
