Act Responsibly: Sustainable Choices For A Better Tomorrow
The flagship program MSU-IIT ILIGANICE redefines the path for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the region. Central to this initiative is Innovation for Business Recovery (IBR) Plan project. This forwarding initiative is designed to address the evolving needs of MSMEs.
Through Phase 2 of the ILIGANiCE program, the project achieved significant milestones that reflect its wide-reaching impact:
Supported and assisted 30 MSMEs through targeted activities, seminars, and workshops.
Crafted 8 IBR Plans tailored to the specific recovery needs of local businesses.
Developed 2 new products showcasing innovation rooted in local context and sustainable practices.
Forged 7 strategic partnerships with external stakeholders, expanding both reach and impact.
The year-end assessment of ILIGANiCE Phase 2 was not only a celebration of achievements but also a reflection on the journey of growth and collaboration. The event recognized key partners, including DOST X - LDN, DTI - LDN, the Iligan Chamber, LGU-Iligan, and StartUp Village, all of whom played critical roles in supporting the initiative.
With the IBR Plan project, MSU-IIT isn’t just responding to a crisis — it’s setting a benchmark for how higher education institutions can drive real-world impact while advancing global goals. Through purposeful innovation and collaboration, ILIGANiCE is planting the seeds of sustainability in the very heart of local enterprise.
MSU-IIT ILIGANiCE in collaboration with the WE CARE Office and Gender and Development Center conducted tests and observations of the Table Top Vegetable Cutter at Sikyop Agriculture Cooperative. By ensuring the effective use of the equipment for making taro chips, this activity increased the cooperative's productivity.
This program supports community-based companies and is generously funded by Department of Science and Technology-Lanao del Norte (DOST) Region X through the CEST Program. Contributions were made by Dr. Ferdinand Jamil, who oversees the CEST Project for Sikyop, and Dr. Jinky Bornales, who leads the ILIGANiCE project.
In February 2024, the MTIT BARMM Lanao del Sur, in partnership with the BARMM Negosyo Center and MSU-IIT’s Bamboo Technology Resource Center (BTRC), conducted a five-day Bamboo Skills Training for members of the Bacayawan Lakub Producer Cooperative in Marantao. The program introduced modern techniques in harvesting, treating, preserving, and coloring bamboo to improve the quality and durability of the Lakub, a traditional Maranao bamboo craft, while also enabling product diversification. This collaboration supports cultural preservation, livelihood sustainability, and the growth of the regional bamboo handicraft industry.
