The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce has established a scholarship foundation for local high school seniors who will be attending a qualified institution of higher learning as a full-time student in the 2024-2025 school year. We intend to award at least one scholarship in the amount of $1,000.00 to a student in your school during this school year. To accomplish this, we will need your help in promoting this to high school seniors that are likely to attend an institution of higher learning next fall. Students must submit applications to their school Guidance Counselors or Administration by January 10, 2025 to verify that all criteria have been met as stated on page 1 of this application. All applications meeting the requirements must be received by the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce no later than Friday, January 17, 2025, for consideration. Applications submitted after this date will not be accepted.

Equitable Foundation has established the Equitable Excellence® Scholarship Program Scholarship Program to assist high school seniors who are planning to continue their education at a two- or fouryear college in the United States by Fall Semester.This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. • Be current high school seniors in one of the 50 U.S. states, District of Columbia or Puerto Rico who plan to enroll full-time in an accredited two-or four-year college or university in the United States for the entire upcoming academic year. • Demonstrate ambition and self-drive to be a force for good in school, community or work activities • Be willing to provide a release to publicize their identities and information about their achievements along with photographs for use in program promotion and information. • Have a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale. The James F. Byrnes Scholarship Program was established in 1949 to assist young South Carolinians who had lost one or both parents to obtain a college education. Since that time, Byrnes Scholarships have been awarded to over 1,100 students. The annual award of $5,000 is applied for each year of a four-year bachelor’s degree program; $20,000 for the sum of 4 years. The scholarship is renewed annually contingent upon the recipient’s maintenance of satisfactory academic standing, need for financial assistance, and participation in Byrnes Scholar activities. This year our application packet and reference forms can be accessed on our website. Applicants can access the application from any device. Once the application is complete the applicant will submit the application and all required documents via email. Their references must submit their forms individually via email as well.

Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship Deadline: January 9 The Jackie Robinson Foundation (JRF) Scholarship program addresses the financial needs of college students and provides extensive, hands-on mentoring and support services. The JRF scholarship is awarded to outstanding high school graduates who plan to earn a baccalaureate degree from an accredited, four-year college or university. • • - Be a graduating, minority high school senior • • - Be a United States citizen • • - Present evidence of financial need • • - Demonstrate a record of academic excellence • • - Demonstrate leadership potential and a dedication to community service • • - Submit an official SAT and/or ACT test exam score from junior or senior year* • • - Plan to attend an accredited and approved 4-year college within the United States or affiliated with a United States-based college or university. John F. Kennedy Library Foundation Essay Contest: Varies Opens September 1 Deadline January 17 Contest Topic: Describe and analyze an act of political courage by a U.S. elected official who served during or after 1917, the year John F. Kennedy was born. Include an analysis of the obstacles, risks, and consequences associated with the act. The essay may concern an issue at the local, state, national, or international level. • Essays can be no more than 1,000 words but must be a minimum of 700 words. Citations and bibliography are not included in the word count. • Essays must be the original work of the student. Hampton Wildlife Fund- Amount Varies DEADLINE: January 31 The Hampton Wildlife Fund is offering 4 different scholarships. Scholarship information and applications can be found at https://hamptonwildlifefund.org/scholarships/ Harry Hampton Scholarship-$5,000 (4 years) for students in the natural resources disciplines of wildlife biology, fisheries biology, forestry, marine or environmental science. Wallace F. Pate Scholarship- $2,500 (1 year) for students in the natural resources disciplines of wildlife biology, fisheries biology, forestry, marine or environmental science. Natural resource students may apply for the Hampton and Pate scholarships together on one application, but are eligible to be awarded only on. Agriculture, general biology, pre-medical biology, and veterinary science are NOT eligible curricula for these scholarships. David M. Cline Scholarship- $2,000 (1 year) for students who wish to further their education in law enforcement/ criminal justice/ forensic science. Pre-medical curricula on a path to forensic medicine does NOT qualify for this scholarship. James O. Thomason Scholarship- $2,000 (4 years) for students who wish to further their education in print or photo journalism, advertising, public relations or mass communications. THE DREAM OPPORTUNITY SCHOLARSHIP Jan 31 2025 DEADLINE
We created our Opportunity Scholarship for undocumented students who live in states where they effectively have no access to college – either because they face paying out-of-state tuition or because their state will simply not admit them into its universities. We call these locked-out states. The Opportunity Scholarship Award will cover your tuition, fees, on-campus housing, and meals at one of our Partner Colleges out of state up to a maximum of $100,000 for a bachelor’s degree. The award follows students through the completion of a bachelor’s degree and is renewable each year – Recipients must meet the continuing eligibility criteria, including continuous full-time enrollment, and renew the award each summer.
