Statement Sentence about the three works presented
In my work, I’ve been examining my own personal experiences studying abroad in America as a Chinese student and the homesickness I feel for my family, my community, and my culture. I use the fluidity of watercolor and the flexibility of clay to shape my memory back home and to express my feelings of nostalgia. In doing so, I explore my own identity development and my belonging.

change my color palette to not just black and white; expand my choice of paper; challenge my exploration with the broader and shape of paper; shift my audience group; sculptural and on the wall is an interesting experiment
I really like her works because she has a great sensitivity of the color palette. She chooses bright colors and they feels like energy blocks. She is very much a visual artists. These paintings she took inspiration from lotus flower and leaf, which is very traditional chinese painting subjects.
Work Progress:
This project challenges me to deviate from what I've been doing (black and white ink drawing0 and to explore the color palette to try different color combinations. I also tried paper collage for the first time since one of the obstructions is sculptural but on the wall.
