Local governments regulate many public services essential to everyday life and deliver them to us. These services include schools, public safety, police, land use, and utilities (e.g. water, wastewater, or garbage disposal). The local government can also decide the voting age in their local elections. You can write to, call, or meet with officials and attend town meetings.
