1. Intro

What Kind of Changemaker Do You Want to Be?

Objectives:

In this unit, you will engage in a student-led civics project, which involves a series of choice-making opportunities. At every step of the project--from topic selection, goals, audiences, strategies and tools to collaboration and alliance building--you are required to make choices. One essential choice, among many, is choosing your own changemaker role(s) to play in the project. You can choose a role from the previous units, or explore new roles, such as artist, cartoonist, journalist, cartographer, public speaker, policy writer, and community organizer.

The key to the success is to be authentic, informed, and intentional about your choice-making. You will use the 10 Questions Framework to design, implement, and reflect on your student-led civics project.

Right now, you're too young to vote or to run for office (though someday you can!). But that doesn't mean that you can’t do anything to make a difference right now. There are many ways for you to participate in and make a meaningful impact in your community. Let's start exploring how.

Brainstorm

Write your changemaker idea on the class discussion platform. Be ready to share.

2. List any obstacle(s) or reason(s) that keeps you become a changemaker now, such as "I can't vote" or "I have seen my friends at school almost over a year!

Write any obstacles on the class discussion platform. Be ready to share.
