Overview
In 9th, 10th and 11th grade, students in the CHARGEnorth program will learn valuable career and life skills that will be vital in the workforce. Students will learn teamwork and valuable life skills such as time management, group work, and meeting necessary criteria for projects. Students also will learn the operation of a wide variety of technology to be able to keep up in the workforce and adapt to modern life
Students in the CHARGEnorth program take Engineering 9th, 10th, and 11th grades. Students engage in hands-on activities and multiple projects. We use two main workspaces: MakerSpace and ThinkLab. Many of our students learn use variety of tools such as the laser cutter engraver, 3d printer, and various power tools such as band saw and miter saw. Students will also learn various programs such as Onshape (CAD software), Light Burn, and V-Carve (CAD and CAM software).
Foundations of Engineering (Mr. Lin: 9th grade)
Students learn basic concepts of engineering, and create simple projects. For example one project from the past years is the create a little box of one the periodic table of elements.
Engineering Concepts (Mr. Bradley: 10th grade)
Students learn more programs and now have access to various amount tools. They will be able to create more complex designs that can be in everyday use such as a chopping board, pen, decor, and other products. They have more freedom with what they create compared to the other classes.
Engineering Applications (Mr. Daab: 11th grade)
Students use all their skills they learn before and apply to the real world. Students will create designs and products under constraints such as money, time, and resources. An example of this is one of the past year projects is where students had to create a shoe sole, which had to measurements, and how effective it had to be to work on surfaces such as wood.
