Please review the following information before deciding if you will sign up for and audition for the Lanier Junior Theatre Company this semester.
The Lanier Junior Theatre Company is a serious organization that requires its members to attend rehearsal on a regular, weekly basis. Our club meets on Thursday afternoons, but there are other dates throughout the semester (i.e. dress rehearsal) that your theatre student is required to attend. Please see the Schedule page for a complete list of required dates and times.
Putting on a show to the level and quality we expect at Lanier costs a lot of money, time, and dedication. Licensing fees, scripts, costumes, and set pieces are quite expensive. Therefore, we expect students to take this club seriously. This is NOT a casual club where students can come and go. If your student commits to the Lanier Junior Theatre Company, we expect them to fulfill that commitment and be at every rehearsal unless there is an emergency.
Furthermore, students rely on each other during these shows. Every person has to be at the right place at the right time and say the right thing so that others are able to do what they need to do. If a student is absent, this causes a lot of stress for our whole cast and crew to make up for the missing student. Students that already have prior commitments on Thursday nights or during rehearsals/shows should NOT sign up for or audition for the Lanier Junior Theatre Company. (See the SCHEDULE page for a complete list of spring semester dates)
The Lanier Junior Theatre Company is NOT a casual club where students may come and go. Actors and technical theater crew will be expected to be focused and working hard during rehearsal. Students will NOT be allowed to use their cell phones during rehearsal. If you are cast in a role or are assigned a job in technical theater, we expect you to be at rehearsal and ready to work each and every week. Students who cannot follow these rules will be asked to leave the Lanier Junior Theatre Company.
Students will be required to attend weekly rehearsals and will need a reliable ride to Lanier High School on a few occasions for our show to work. These dates are already listed on the Schedule page. If you are unable to get your student to and from the middle school and high school around show time, it may be best to find other extracurriculars that fit your schedule.
The teachers that run the Lanier Junior Theatre Company are doing so because they love theater and want to spread that joy to your students. When students are not picked up on time, this interferes with the personal lives and prior plans the Lanier Junior Theatre Company sponsors may have. Please make sure you can fulfill the scheduling requirements for your student before committing to the Lanier Junior Theatre Company for the semester. Please view the Schedule page to determine if the Lanier Junior Theatre Company is right for your student and their schedule. In general, students will need a ride home at 6:00 PM on Thursday afternoons.
Fees & Costs
The Lanier Junior Theatre Company costs $40 per student, per year.
The Lanier Junior Theatre Company is a yearly fee, not a fee-per-semester. That means that if you paid in the fall of 2024, you do NOT need to pay again for the spring of 2025. However, if you are new to the Lanier Junior Theatre Company in the spring semester of 2025, or you paid your yearly fee in the spring of 2024, you will need to pay your yearly fee for this school year. This can be done on MyPaymentsPlus.
What does my $40 cover?
Theater is expensive, and there are many costs and fees that go along with the Lanier Junior Theatre Company. We spend money on royalties and licensing fees for our selected shows, purchasing scripts, purchasing costumes, props, and set materials, as well as any other materials we need to put on our shows. We also provide a pizza dinner during some dress rehearsals and any cast parties. Your Lanier Junior Theatre Company fee will help us cover the expenses of putting on a great performance. Please be aware that this $40 fee may not cover all costume pieces and your student may be expected to wear their own clothes in certain roles. Our Technical Theater Crew will be expected to wear all black during dress rehearsal and performances, and this is not covered in the $40 fee.
What if I can't afford the $40 fee?
Please send us an email at laniermiddle.drama@gmail.com or have your student speak with Ms. Davis, Mrs. Guillory, or Ms. Martin. We have scholarships available and will not turn a student away because they cannot pay.
When should I pay the $40 fee?
Please wait until your student(s) have been cast in the show before paying the yearly fee. We are expecting a large volume of auditions and may not be able to cast every student who auditions for the show. The club fee will be available to you after the cast list has been posted.
