What is technical theater?
Technical Theater takes care of everything on stage that isn't acting! Technical theater covers set, props, costumes, makeup, lighting, sound, and so much more! Technical theater is integral to the production of a show. We need students who are interested in the following technical theater specialties... No experience necessary! Dedication required.
- Lighting: Our lighting crew designs the lighting for each scene and, with the help of our high school theater friends, runs the light board during our performances.
- Sound: Our sound design crew decides which music and sound effects will be used and, with the help of our high school theater friends, runs the sound board during performances. The sound design crew also ensures our actors can be heard through their microphones.
- Set: Our set design crew helps to create the backdrops and larger set pieces to bring our shows to life. These students are also in charge of strategically moving set pieces on and off stage. Our set design crew works closely with our props crew.
- Props: Every good show needs good props! Our props crew designs, sources, and creates the different props needed to put on our shows. Our props crew works closely with our set design crew.
- Costuming: Our costuming crew designs, sources, and creates the costumes used in our performances. This includes our stage makeup crew, who designs and executes the hair and makeup for our performances.
- Hair and Makeup: Our Makeup Club has merged with Drama Club. Our makeup team members will apply various forms of makeup to cast members, as well as work on any hair or wigs that are necessary for the performances.
