Audition Information
Auditions are open to any and all Lanier Middle School students!
You do NOT have to have been in our previous shows to audition for a current show. Please read the Schedule page and the Information page before signing up as this club requires time commitments after school for rehearsals as well as transportation needs.
To audition, students will be required to memorize and perform a short monologue in front of their peers and the drama club teachers.
Here are the available monologues for The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon auditions on January 15th.
Printed copies of the monologues are outside of Ms. Davis's Classroom.
Please scroll to access the audition process FAQ section.

Auditions FAQ
What will auditions be like?
When you audition, you will be asked to memorize a monologue related to the show you will be auditioning for. Your monologue should be ready to go and you will NOT be allowed to carry a script on stage for your auditions.
Names will be called from the Audition Google Form in random order. Students who are not present when their name is called will not be considered for a role.
We want each and every student that wants to be there to get to spend time on stage. However, if you are not prepared or ready to audition in front of your peers, you will not be ready to perform a whole show in front of hundreds of people on performance day. If performing on stage seems like it will be too much for you but you still want to participate in Drama Club, please consider joining our Technical Theater Crew.
Students will have just a few minutes to show us what you've got. Read your monologue with the same passion and excitement you would read it with if you were on stage in front of hundreds of people. We expect students in the audience waiting for their audition to stay silent and respectful. Students may NOT leave after their audition as they need to stay and support the other students auditioning.
What goes into the casting process and deciding roles?
Your performance during your audition monologue is NOT the only thing we consider when casting the show. We have to consider how each role works with the others and how each student may be utilized in the production. We also reach out to your teachers to see how you are doing academically and behaviorally and if they would recommend you for a role. Please do not be disappointed in yourself if you don't get the role you want this time. There is a lot at play when assigning roles and there is always the next show for you to show us what you've got!
When will the cast list come out?
We try to have the complete cast list out and read to view within 48 hours of the end of the audition process. It will be posted to this Auditions page, Google Classroom, and outside Ms. Davis's classroom door.
What do I do if my name is not on the cast list?
Unfortunately, we are not always able to cast everyone who auditions. If your name is not on the cast list, you were not chosen for a role in our show this semester. We would love for you to try again next semester!
What happens if I miss the window for audition sign-ups?
We advertise each audition process for as long as possible so that students have plenty of time to research roles and sign up to audition. We advertise this through Google Classroom posts, information on our website, and at school via fliers and announcements. If you did not sign up for auditions in the given timeframe, you will not be able to audition for that semester's show. You are more than welcome to audition during the next semester for the next show. We require our Drama Club members to be highly dedicated and motivated, and students who do not sign up for auditions during the required timeframe do not yet show the level of commitment we require.
