Makeup Picture Day at DMS will be on Wednesday, November 8th.
Students may only come to makeup/retake pictures for three reasons:
1. If your student was absent on the original picture day. (DMS has a list of absentees.)
2. If your student is new to DMS since picture day on 9/26th.
3. If your student received their picture package and you would like a retake of that picture. You must bring back the package to retake and we will print a new package with the new picture. [Anyone who ordered on or before October 15th should have received their picture package this week. Those who ordered digital only should have already received their images.]
If you were absent or are a new student and would like to order you pictures, you may do so here:
Students are required to wear their DMS issued lanyard with their student ID when they are at school each day.
These are part of our safety and security measures.
If a lanyard is lost, replacements must be purchased from each grade level's clerk.
The cost for replacement is $2.00.

Georgia Parent Survey
The Georgia Parent Survey is designed to give parents an opportunity to share input with the Georgia Department of Education. It contains 24 questions. Parents may complete the survey using a personal computer, smartphone, or tablet. Parents that do not have access to the Internet, should contact their child’s school to arrange to complete the survey at the school.
The data parents provide by completing this survey will be used as part of the calculation of the School Climate Star Rating. Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis.
Individual data results from the Georgia Parent Survey will not be available to system or school personnel or the public and will not be posted online.

Georgia Student Health Survey
To help improve our schools and those across the state, Gwinnett County Public Schools students in grades 3-12 will participate in the Georgia Student Health Survey. The GSHS is an anonymous and statewide survey instrument that covers topics such as school climate and safety, peer, and adult social support, bullying, mental health, substance abuse, and suicidal ideation.
The Student Survey will be administered for Dacula Middle students via the GCPS Student Portal during the week of November 13, 2023.
Parents may complete the Opt-Out process if they do not wish their student(s) to participate in the survey. Parents may use the Parent Portal to complete this process, or they may send a written request to the schools to opt their student(s) out of this survey. Please note that any parent/guardian wishing to opt his/her student out of the survey should complete the online form or inform the school in writing at least 72 business hours before the school has scheduled the administration of the survey to ensure that the student does not participate.

Morning Student Drop Off Reminders
Morning Student Drop Off Reminders
For safety reasons, morning car rider students should not exit their vehicles until the first bell rings at 8:55am. Students are not allowed to enter the building until that time as there is no staff supervision available.
Students needing to be dropped off prior to the morning bell must use the bus lanes and enter the cafeteria up until 8:35am. After that point, all traffic must go through and line up in the car rider lanes at the front of the building.

From Our Friends at the Dacula Public Library
Gwinnett County Public Library is happy to serve as a safe place for students after school and appreciates the majority of students who visit and abide by the library's rules. Students are welcome to use the library to study, talk with friends, and participate in library programs and activities. The library does have a Code of Conduct to address students whose behavior is disruptive to others using the library and violating the Code of Conduct will lead to suspension from the library.
Violations include but are not limited to:
● disobeying the reasonable direction of library staff or security officers
● making loud disruptive noises of any kind
● blocking aisles, entrances, or exits in any manner
● engaging in any form of sexual misconduct
● damaging, stealing, or altering library property
● smoking on library property
Immediate suspensions for the remainder of the school year will be issued to students who fight or threaten to fight on library property, who harass or threaten library staff or other customers, bring drugs or alcohol onto library property, or engage in other illegal activity.
Caregivers can ensure that their students retain access to the library by setting expectations for behavior after school and by working proactively with library staff when issues arise. The library is committed to working with students, caregivers, schools, and police officers to keep students safe and to quickly address all inappropriate conduct.
