GCPS is partnering with the Center for Educational Effectiveness (CEE) to administer the Educational Effectiveness Survey (EES) Student Wellness Screener for students in grades 3 through 12. The screener will provide our school and district staff with valuable data about the academic, social, and emotional needs of students. The results will be used to identify students needing additional support in the areas of Academic Behaviors, Social Behaviors, and Emotional Behaviors. The 22-item screener should take students less than 10 minutes to complete.
The Wellness Screener will be given at Dacula Middle School on September 6, 2023. As part of our process, school district leaders want to make parents and caregivers aware of this screener, familiarize them with the questions students will be asked, and offer the opportunity for them to opt their child out of taking the screener. Gwinnett County Public Library is happy to serve as a safe place for students after school and appreciates the majority of students who visit and abide by the library's rules. Students are welcome to use the library to study, talk with friends, and participate in library programs and activities. The library does have a Code of Conduct to address students whose behavior is disruptive to others using the library and violating the Code of Conduct will lead to suspension from the library.
Violations include but are not limited to:
● disobeying the reasonable direction of library staff or security officers
● making loud disruptive noises of any kind
● blocking aisles, entrances, or exits in any manner
● engaging in any form of sexual misconduct
● damaging, stealing, or altering library property
● smoking on library property
Immediate suspensions for the remainder of the school year will be issued to students who fight or threaten to fight on library property, who harass or threaten library staff or other customers, bring drugs or alcohol onto library property, or engage in other illegal activity.
Caregivers can ensure that their students retain access to the library by setting expectations for behavior after school and by working proactively with library staff when issues arise. The library is committed to working with students, caregivers, schools, and police officers to keep students safe and to quickly address all inappropriate conduct.
Accommodations on the PSAT™ 8/9 must be approved by College Board using the same process as for all other College Board assessments including AP exams. This year, a student and their parent/guardian will need to request accommodations directly. Visit How to Request Accommodations to learn more.

Students with a College Board–approved accommodation for extended time, extra breaks, or assistive technology will be able to try out their accommodation in the full-length adaptive practice test. They’ll have to select their accommodation for practice, but it will be applied to their exam automatically. Remember, accommodations on the digital PSAT 8/9 may be different from accommodations on the paper and pencil test. To learn more, visit Using Accommodations on Digital Tests.

Children need healthy meals to learn. Gwinnett County Public Schools offers healthy meals every school day. Breakfast costs $1.50; lunch costs $2.25 for elementary and $2.50 at middle and high schools. Your children may qualify for free meals or for reduced-price meals. The reduced price is $.30 for breakfast and $.40 for lunch. This packet includes an application for free or reduced-price meal benefits and a set of detailed instructions. Below are some common questions and answers to help you with the application process.
WHO CAN GET FREE OR REDUCED-PRICE MEALS?
All children in households receiving benefits from SNAP or TANF are eligible for free.
Foster children that are under the legal responsibility of a foster care agency or court are eligible for free.
Children participating in their school’s Head Start program are eligible for free.
Children who meet the definition of homeless, runaway, or migrant are eligible for free.
Children may receive free or reduced-price meals if your household’s income is within the limits on the Federal Income Eligibility Chart.
