Connection to Big 5 and support for Phonemic awareness This app will help students to build their phonemic awareness skills, they base their learning and teaching skills in this game-based app on the research of reading science (Stanovich, 1986; 1993; Share & Stanovich, 1995). This app helps in learning primary sounds of letters, gives a solid foundation leading into the other big 5 by knowing and learning alphabetic principles, identifying beginning sounds of words, and understanding phonemes and their makeup with pre letter skills.
Use in the Classroom I would use this app in my classroom as a stationary task for students, could play this game during free time, or as a take home resource.
The Big 5 National Reading Panel

26 letters; many spelling patterns
44 phonemes, of which 19 are vowels (preview Blevins, 2017, pp. 93-131)
Connection to Big 5 and support for Phonemic awareness This app will help students to be more aware and take notice of sight words and high frequency words to help with fluency and connections within fluency. Some activities included in the app are:
Word Wheel - A quick introduction to each word then quiz to reinforce word recognition. Hints that reinforce knowledge because the first exposure might not make it stick.

Reading Aloud to Build Comprehension
Connection to Big 5 and support for Phonemic awareness This website is helpful in that it gives several resources of how to build comprehension in the classroom, and how reading aloud in the classroom helps and is useful for student comprehension in the classroom. It helps teachers and students to know and realize the importance of reading aloud, benefits, why it is helpful and supports comprehension, choosing good books and think aloud.
Use in the Classroom I would use this website to help build lesson plans and activities based around comprehension in reading and other subject area lessons.
Connection to Big 5 and support for Phonemic awareness The games and learning tools on the website help and gives students both access and freedom to explore and engage in learning about phonics at their own pace, through multiple learning tools. They have access to read aloud, sounds/puzzles, games, etc.
Use in the Classroom I would use this website in literary circles as centers/free time engagement tool. They are still practicing these importance skills, just on their own, or with a partner/group. They can also easily take this home with them to work on if they have access at home.
Connection to Big 5 and support for Phonemic awareness This is an amazing website for ELL students and any student learning the English language as a second language or struggling vocabulary students. It offers a variety of tools to help with learning and practicing vocabulary terms and methods for learning them including memory games, Game-show styled games, and many more types of learning tools. Not only are the games engaging and help students to be involved in their learning, but it also gives students and teachers the ability to zone in on what students struggle with, and have them work on just those things, or more of what they struggle with.
Use in the Classroom I would use this website as a small group/individual activity. This is perfect for any free time, letting them engage and choose what and how they learn is so important and can be a key to participation in their own learning. I also think that students who are learning English as a second language, will enjoy this and practicing throughout the website vs. spending 2-3 extra hours in the classroom, doing what they do every day.
