The Faculty of Emporia State University pride themselves on the institution's reputation of Academic Excellence. The Office of Institutional Effectiveness provides the Faculty with varying opportunities to engage in professional development including attendance at assessment conferences, workshops, consultations, and online learning.

Professional Development offerings

Special Topics Workshops

A variety of workshops are offered throughout the academic year. There workshops are dedicated to assisting faculty in developing assessment knowledge and skills. These workshops are designed for all levels of assessment understanding and include learning and practical application of key skills and practices.

Online Instruction

The Canvas Learning Management System is used to provide an asynchronous learning environment that is dedicated to perpetuating the university's assessment and institutional effectiveness practices. Currently, there are three courses available including Reporting Assessment, Learning about Assessment, and Planning and Operations.

Personal Instruction

One-on-one personalized instruction can be dedicated to assessment practices, data analysis, and accreditation reporting. It is common for members of the Student Learning Assessment Council to seek advice and instruction on assessing within their respective operational units. The office also assists individuals in planning and implementing specialized accreditation assessment practices.

Specialized Group Instruction

Group instruction is provided for the use of the Campus Labs Planning and Baseline modules used for assessment planning and reporting. In addition, small groups of faculty and staff can request instruction on specific assessment and accreditation topics. Group training sessions related to assessment reporting and practices are also popular among academic affairs and student affairs units.
