Spring 2023

Kenna Reeves

Kenna goes above and beyond in teaching and caring for her students, particularly recognizing not only their ability to learn in the classroom but also the need to be recognized and uplifted. Two quick examples. One, she meets individually with students from her SP101: Public Speaking classes, encouraging each student to come in and go over their upcoming speech and their concerns about public speaking with her, so she can work one-on-one with them outside the classroom. Second, she uplifts students by showing her concern for and her recognition of them. She stocks snacks in her office to provide students who may be hungry (whether because they haven't had a break to eat all day or they have more basic needs concerns). Today, I watched 2 students come to her office to get Valentines (who must have missed class but were contacted by her) and a snack/treat if they needed. We appreciate her work here at the ESU, and are so happy to have her.

Britney Hinrichs

Britney has been working extremely hard to help the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences run smoothly. She has been going above and beyond to support the Dean, Associate Dean, and all faculty and staff members in LA&S. When our department chair and administrative specialist need her help, she is always responsive and does her best to provide invaluable information and solutions. As our university is moving forward, Britney assumes charge of more responsibilities, but she still carries out all tasks promptly and thoroughly. The recent reorganization in our college has put even more work on Britney. However, she enthusiastically assists our Assistant Deans James Ehlers and Amy Sage Webb-Baza to communicate with the entire college throughout the process. In summary, Britney has demonstrated the highest level of work ethic and professionalism. She is a great asset to ESU and a role model and leader for our college and institution.

Cassandra Hart

Cassandra works with the staff and faculty to make sure she gives the best service she can. She goes to other buildings just to make sure everything is ready to go when needed. Cassandra is also willing to switch shifts to cover an area just so the building will be ready when it is needed. Cassandra's attitude makes it a pleasant work environment, and we really appreciate all that she does for us.

rEGINA MURPHY

Regina Murphy has been one of the best supervisors I have ever had. She understands the work it takes to be a student and always allows me to work on school work or projects if needed. She is always there if I have any questions, and I am very thankful to have her as my supervisor.

Vicky Cooper

Vicky responds quickly, often while others are still meeting with a student, to help answer cashier questions. She is a great team member that works to help get students enrolled as quickly as possible. She responds with all the info a student needs to answer their questions so that they understand exactly what they need to do. She is always pleasant when other employees walk a student over to her window. Financial questions can often be emotional and difficult, and she is always extra nice to students in order to help put them at ease.

Jaime Morris, Darcy Johnson, & Team

Financial aid is so helpful! Jaimie is always so extra helpful whenever I contact her with questions on how we can help our students. Darcy is so patient when I ask so many questions and takes time out of her busy schedule to come and meet with my advisees to help answer financial aid questions. Emily is so nice when she answers the phone and my multiple emails. Yuliana is so knowledgeable about the veteran's forms, coming to our advising training sessions to help us. Thad is great about following up with students about class changes. Everyone in financial aid is so awesome and helpful!!

Jiayi Wang

I never would have made it through the accessibility requirements without Jiayi! She was so patient and ready to hop on remote assistance with me or do a teams call or zoom or whatever she needed to do to help me. I truly appreciate her skills and assistance. Jiayi has never been condescending, even though I'm technologically challenged and always treated me with respect and have always been so pleasant to work with.

Hind Aati

Hind has been great support, especially at the beginning of every semester, to copy canvas folders over for repeating classes. She has always been so nice and friendly and supportive and has never been condescending, even though I'm technologically challenged. Hind always treats me with respect and have always been so pleasant to work with. I extremely appreciate her patience, time and efforts.

Kim Sherwood & Team

Kim and her team, including Kelly and all of their student workers, are so awesome! The IT help desk is so helpful, and always pleasant, nice and patient with me. They have done remote assistance with me on various issues, and helped via phone when I'm with a student or in class. Even when I get frustrated with the technology that isn't working, they all stay calm and help me. Ariyana and Alec and others are so skilled to assist with any task, big or small, to help me do my job and help students. They answer questions to assist student success as well! Anyone who answer the phone at the IT helpdesk is so well trained in helping excellently!!

Jerrod Schumann

Jerrod goes above and beyond to make sure Emporia State is safe for all. He recently came in on his day off to educate the Student Advising Center, BizHornet, and Teachers College Advising Center staff on active shooter training. That is the only time all of our team members are available, so it was really nice of him to accommodate our schedule. Jerrod was so calm and explained the situations so well, that I really feel more comfortable about preparing for such an event. He was very knowledgeable, and even spent extra time after the training video to answer questions, as well as walk through each advising center and discuss ways to make our offices safer, ways to protect ourselves, and how to escape in the event of an active shooter.

Becca McKenzie

Becca continuously goes above and beyond for not only the students she advises but for her coworkers as well. She is continuously offering to step outside of her job description to assist those around her. Becca always takes extra attentive care to her students and genuinely cares for their success here at ESU and in their personal lives. She puts all her effort into making sure that her students are taken care of, and when other advisors may need assistance, she is the first to offer help. Becca is always working and figuring out ways to make the advising experience better and more efficient.

Anna Hanson

Anna is always so patient, kind, respectful and positive. While this is my own personal experience, I have witnessed these characteristics among all the individuals she interacts with. Although she may be extremely busy, she takes the time to not only answer my questions, but explain the details and provides resources for future reference. I truly appreciate Anna's positive impact in the workplace, her willingness to help others and her dedication to the students and employees of ESU.
