Kat O'Meara demonstrates excellence and responsibility through a commitment to academic rigor in the Composition program. Within her classes, she sets high expectations for her students while providing them with the support needed to meet those expectations, as well as working hard to use the best strategies available for assessment and instruction. She is also a supportive colleague who works to promote and encourage her peers and the Composition GTAs. On top of those duties, Kat demonstrates service by enthusiastically giving her time and energy to the ESU community. She has been an officer in ESU's chapter of Phi Kappa Phi for several years, she actively promotes student and faculty achievement on EMLJ social media, and she helps coordinate many team-building social activities as part of the EMLJ social committee. She engages the ESU student writers in the broader writing community through activities the National Day on Writing. Kat is an athletic champion for ESU's soccer team, showing up even in the worst weather to support the team. Above all other qualities, Kat shows respect for all in the way she works to make her classroom, her office, and the community at large a more respectful, caring, and inclusive place.
