INTRODUCTION

Learning is Fun!

Learn about the mission, vision, values, and the culture of learning at Emporia State University using game-based learning and simulation activities. This fun and engaging learning module is designed to enhance your knowledge and skills through interactive learning experiences.

Module Objectives

In Module 2, the primary objective is to introduce new faculty to the statements which frame and define the culture of learning at Emporia State University. The secondary objectives include developing a general understanding for how institutional culture aligns with course student learning outcomes. This includes learning about the connectivity of institution learning goals, general education goals, and formulation of student learning outcomes for courses. Faculty should gain a sense of understanding for how our culture of learning transcends across the institution and is captured in planning documents including the institution's Adaptive University Strategic Plan and Student Learning Improvement Plan.​

Module Outcomes

Upon completion of this module, faculty will be able to:

  • identify mission, vision, and values statements from the University's strategic plan

  • integrate institution-wide goals, program learning objectives, and course learning outcomes

  • recognize the focus of the assessment culture coordinated through the Student Learning Improvement Plan

Module 2 Learning Activities (40 points)

Module 2 is worth a total of 40 points and consists of two activities designed to engage learning through the quiz and simulation covering the mission, vision, values, and culture topics.

Activity 1: Quiz Activity worth 20 points.

Activity 2: Simulation Activity worth 20 points.
