About Hustwit

A few facts about me:

I was born and grew up in Abilene, Tx. I went to college at Austin College in Sherman, Tx, and I got my Bachelor's degree and Master's degree in education there after studying Classics [both Latin and Greek] there. I started teaching at Denton High in 2003 and added Guyer to my campuses when it opened in 2005. In 2016, I made the move to Braswell and have been here ever since. :-)

  • I live in McKinney and commute to school every day.

  • I married my college sweetheart right after graduation.

  • I am heavily involved in my local animal shelter in McKinney. Adopt, don't shop!

  • I spent several summers rebuilding a '96 Mustang and finally sent it to a new home in 2016.

  • I enjoy building, making and sewing things. I dabble in jewelry, resin, lasers, wood working, 3D printing, pottery, vinyl, dye sublimation, and all sorts of other things...with varying degrees of success.

  • I'm a bit of a technology nerd, though living with people who get paid to work on computers makes me the slow one at home.

  • I like going to zoos, aquariums, museums...seeing cool stuff.

I love languages and traveling to new places. In high school, I took a school trip to England, and it whetted my appetite for new places. In 2007, I went to Paris for a few days. Then, I took my first trip to Italy and Greece in the spring of 2008, taking with me several of my brilliant students. We had an amazing time, and I went back in 2010, 2012, 2014, and 2018. Once things get back on track, I plan on trying to make a trip at least every other year going forward, exposing more students to Italy and the wonders of foreign cultures and seeing our language in action in its home.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, concerns, or comments.

Sincerely,

Sarah Hustwit
