5th Grade

This week in Art, 5th grade students began creating art for the Adopt-A-School Art Competition.  5th graders are using the theme: What Brings You Joy in Denton ISD to create their artwork.

4th Grade

4th graders this week have begun creating artwork for 1 of two different art competitions. Some students have chosen to create art for the Adopt-A-School "What Brings You Joy" theme, and others have chosen to create art for the Native Texas Plant Art Exhibition.

3rd Grade

In 3rd grade this week, we've been learning how to use line to create movement in art. Students looked at the work of contemporary artist Burton Morris.

We used his bold Pop Art style as inspiration for our doughnuts with action lines.

2nd Grade

In 2nd grade this week, students have been practicing using line to create movement in their artwork in different ways.

Students created topsy turvy stacked teacups and are working to add action lines to their wobby drawings.

1st Grade

This week in 1st grade, students looked at ways artists use lines to create a feeling of movement in their artwork.

They practiced this by drawing rocket ships blasting off with action lines trailing behind them.

Kindergarten

Kindergarteners this week read the book, The Day the Crayons Quit and  have been learning about the ways artists can use lines to show movement in their artwork.

To practice showing lines with movement, students decorated and glued colorful crayons. They drew different kinds of lines coming from their crayons to show movement.
