Introduction to the Artwork:
As the boundaries between painting and photography gradually blur, Jeff Wall’s creations explore the lines between reality and fiction, everyday life and imaginative whimsy. His works challenge the traditional notion that photography faithfully records the real world. Depicting landscapes and scenes of contemporary life, his pieces invite viewers to deconstruct the layered narratives embedded in fleeting moments.
Introduction to the Artwork:
During the 1950s and 1960s, artists extensively explored the possibilities of the painting medium, integrating elements from popular culture, mass media, and advertising into their works. They employed silkscreen printing techniques to appropriate, enlarge, and replicate photographic materials. This mechanical process disrupted the notions of uniqueness and the supremacy of painting. In an increasingly information-driven era, the abundance of images and information became the subjects of imitation and reinterpretation.

Address: No. 290, Museum Road, Gushan District, Kaohsiung City (near C21A to C21 stations)
♫*。♪The most beautiful section of the Kaohsiung Light Rail, the "Totoro Tunnel" near the Museum Station, is a standout feature. The Kaohsiung Light Rail is Taiwan's first operational light rail system. The original plan was for the entire line to open in 2021, but construction was halted in 2020 due to disputes over land rights for stations C20 to C24. The city government proposed nine improvement plans, adjusting the route and platform designs, and resumed construction after using dynamic simulations to reduce traffic impacts. This led to the creation of the "Totoro Tunnel" we see today. After the Museum Station section opened in 2022, the 1.2-kilometer stretch of track between C21 and C21A became surrounded by small-leaved tamarind trees. The station's design, with white ripple motifs, creates a dreamy atmosphere reminiscent of scenes from Studio Ghibli's My Neighbor Totoro, sparking a wave of excitement for the "Totoro Tunnel."
