Baldwin Blooms 2023
A week of fun and fundraising
SUNDAY, MAY 7 - SUNDAY, MAY 14

What is Baldwin Blooms?

Baldwin Blooms is the main fundraiser put on by Friends of Baldwin for Baldwin Elementary School. This year's Baldwin Blooms kicked off on Sunday, May 7 with a free Ice Cream Social for the entire Baldwin Community, thanks to a "scooper" generous donation from Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream in Harvard Square.

The 2023 Baldwin Blooms also included a raffle and online auction that ran from 8 AM on May 7 until 10 PM on May 14th. Funds will be used to support teachers, supplement classroom activities and all-school enrichments, offset the costs of field trips, and pay for community building events and many other activities that support our school and our students. Friends of Baldwin thanks everyone for attending the Ice Cream Social and participating in the 2023 auction!

Why Baldwin Blooms

Funds raised through Baldwin Blooms support the Friends of Baldwin's mission. Our mission is to support and enhance students' educational experiences, which includes providing financial support for student enrichments, events, and activities funded outside the annual school budget.

Proceeds from Baldwin Blooms are used by Friends of Baldwin to support Baldwin teachers in adding depth and richness to the standard curriculum. For example, our creative faculty has used funds for such purposes as purchasing a 3-D printer to be used by 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders; for field trips to the New England Aquarium, Boston Tea Party Museum, the Paul Revere House, the Discovery Center in Acton, MA, Tree Top Adventures in Canton, MA, and Nature's Classroom, where kids can "think outside the books"; for all-school author visits from the likes of Jamilah Thompkins-Bigelow, Jason Chin, Megan McDonald, and Karina Yan Glasser; and to offset the cost of student overnight camping trips by the coast or in the woods. Other programming that we financially support include the annual welcome back popsicle party at the start of the school year, PJ Storytelling Night, STEM Day, and Field Day at the end of the year. So many of these trips and events have been an annual highlight for the children for years.

In addition to providing financial support, Friends of Baldwin also provides volunteer support in various ways throughout the year--for long-standing traditions and as needs arise--all with the aim of helping support students and staff and strengthening the school community.
