Students explore weight and capacity, solve addition and subtraction story problems, and begin to develop an understanding in place value. In the first module, students measure weight and capacity and make comparisons about those measurements. In the last three modules, the focus shifts to counting and operations. Students begin to develop robust strategies for solving addition and subtraction problems and explore the concept that numbers are composed of 10s and 1s.
