In this unit, kindergartners begin their formal study of mathematics by focusing on the counting sequence to 20 and quantities of 10.

They also spend a good deal of time in this unit establishing the classroom routines that will provide structure for math class all year long.

Write Numbers to 20

WRITE NUMBERS TO 20- (Hear the names of numbers and see them written. In the first section, numbers 1-20 are quickly written and said. In the next section, a page stops at each number. COMPARING NUMBERS FOR KIDS GREATER THAN LESS THAN- (A fun video that shows the process of thinking about how groups can be compared)

Counting Fish:

Count the fish and click on the corresponding number. There are three numbers to choose from. If you choose the wrong one, the narrator gives you a hint by telling you it’s “too many” or “too few.”

Ladybird Spots:

Count the spots on a ladybug, put a specified number of spots on a ladybug, place each ladybug on the leaf that tells how many spots it has, or put the ladybugs in order from least to most spots.
