Using Base 10 Materials/Place Value

Below you will find resources to help understand how to use Base 10 materials to build numbers using our number system.

• Build a Train Activity (This activity can be done at home if you have snap cubes. Otherwise, the description of this game will show you how snap cubes can be used to show 10's and 1's. )

• Using Popsicle Sticks and Bundles (Examples of the game played in class Two Turns to Build. This will help support students when completing Home Connection page 108.)

• Adding 35 + 46 (Example of how students can break apart two digit numbers into 10's and 1's, and then put the parts together.)
