Manuel Chea was working as a systems officer for a major international bank when at 8:46 a.m., on September 11, 2001, a plane struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center and his life changed forever. In the aftermath of the attack, Manuel subsequently became an emergency manager and dedicated his life to help save and protect the residents of New York City. He currently works for NYC Emergency Management and over the years has been involved in citywide responses to various incidents including Hurricane Sandy and the COVID-19 pandemic. Manuel loves to read, and his favorite book is The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien. He is also an avid sports fan and roots for the Mets, Knicks, Giants, and the Islanders.
