Kate is originally from Connecticut and currently resides in Denver, Colorado. She is a registered dietitian, provisionally licensed therapist, and retired collegiate distance runner. In January 2024, she shared her story titled, “My (Un)conventional Comeback Story,” on The Hidden Opponent blog about her past experience as an athlete with an eating disorder. She wrote how her trajectory in college athletics went nothing as she’d predicted, but that the struggles she overcame ultimately influenced her career trajectory as a dietitian and mental health counselor. Presently, she treats athletes struggling with disordered eating through her private practice, works as a therapist in the Denver metro area, mentors and facilitates support groups at the Eating Disorder Foundation, and studies weight stigma, trauma, and disordered eating in marginalized populations through her role as the assistant lab manager in the Bodies, Eating, and Emotions (BEE) research lab. She is passionate about taking a non-diet, weight-inclusive approach to sport nutrition counseling and instilling hope that recovery is possible in the individuals she works with. Kate holds a bachelor’s degree in Dietetics from the University of Connecticut and will graduate in June 2024 with a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Denver.
