PRIVACY POLICY Standing Orders for ECW Effective Date: June 11, 2026
Overview
Standing Orders for ECW ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension designed for use by medical practice staff. This privacy policy describes how the Extension handles data encountered during its operation.
Data Collection
The Extension does not collect, store, transmit, or share any user data. Specifically:
No personally identifiable information is collected
No patient health information is stored or transmitted outside of the ECW session
No authentication credentials are captured or stored
No usage analytics or telemetry are gathered
No data is sent to any external server, third party, or developer
Data Accessed During Operation
To perform its function, the Extension reads the following data from the active ECW browser tab during an active session:
Diagnosis codes present on the current patient chart
Encounter identifiers used to submit orders within ECW
Session tokens (e.g. gd tokens) used solely to authenticate SOAP requests back to ECW's own servers
This data is used exclusively in real time to inject standing lab orders into the active ECW encounter. It is never written to disk, logged, or transmitted anywhere other than back to the ECW instance already open in the browser.
Data from Configuration Spreadsheet
The Extension loads a provider-specific lab schedule from a Google Sheets spreadsheet configured by the practice. This spreadsheet contains provider names and lab order criteria only — no patient data. It is fetched at runtime and held in memory for the duration of the session only.
Permissions
The permissions requested by the Extension (scripting, tabs, activeTab, sidePanel, webNavigation, and host access to the practice's ECW domain) are used solely to read the active chart and submit orders within the ECW tab. These permissions are the minimum required to perform the Extension's function.
Third Parties
The Extension does not integrate with, report to, or share data with any third-party service, advertiser, or analytics platform.
Children's Privacy
The Extension is intended for use by licensed medical practice staff only and is not directed at or designed for use by children.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy is updated, the revised version will be published with a new effective date. Continued use of the Extension after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
