# eCW Rocket Privacy Policy
**Effective Date:** October 22, 2026
## Overview
eCW Rocket (formerly "Dashboard eCW Launcher," also known as FPS Rocket) is a Chrome extension for medical practice staff who use the eClinicalWorks (eCW) EMR. It saves staff clicks in eCW in two ways:
- **Opening patients from the Dashboard.** When a user clicks a patient account number on the practice's internal Dashboard, the extension switches to the user's eCW tab (or opens one), searches for that account number in Patient Lookup, and opens the patient's Patient Hub. If the user has chosen it on the dashboard, it then opens the patient's Encounters, Progress Notes, or DI section.
- **Clicking the CCM timer.** For a patient enrolled in Chronic Care Management (CCM), the extension can click the CCM timer's Start button when a Telephone Encounter, progress note, document, or Patient Hub is open, depending on which options the user turns on. In a progress note, it does not start the timer if the note is the patient's office visit for today, and shows a brief "NO CCM" notice instead. It can also click "Reset" in eCW's "Reset Timer - Confirmation" prompt and "Close Anyway" when the user closes the timer window. Each of these options is off until the user turns it on.
## Data Collection
eCW Rocket does not collect, store, transmit, or share any user data or patient data with the developer or any third party. Specifically, the extension:
- Does not send patient health information to any server outside the practice's own eCW site.
- Does not read, store, or handle usernames or passwords. If eCW is at the login screen, the extension waits for the user to log in themselves.
- Does not use cookies, analytics, advertising, or tracking of any kind.
- Does not communicate with any server other than the practice's eCW site, and only by acting in the user's own eCW tab.
## Data Accessed During Operation
- **Patient account numbers:** When a user clicks an account number on the dashboard, that number is passed inside the browser from the dashboard tab to the eCW tab and typed into eCW's Patient Lookup search. It is never sent anywhere else.
- **eCW page elements:** The extension looks at the eCW page only to find the buttons and fields it needs: the Patient Lookup search and results; the Patient Hub, Encounters, Progress Notes, and DI buttons; and, when a CCM option is on, the encounter title, the open encounter's date and office-visit icon, the Document Details and Patient Hub window titles, the CCM enrollment icon, and the CCM timer's Start, Reset, and Close Anyway buttons. It confirms that the clicked account number appears in the search results. None of this is saved.
- **eCW loading activity:** To tell when eCW has finished loading, the extension counts how many requests eCW currently has in progress. It never reads the content of those requests or responses.
All of this processing happens in the browser's memory on the user's computer.
## Locally Stored Settings
The extension uses Chrome's built-in extension storage on the user's computer for these items only:
- **Extension on/off:** Whether the whole extension is turned off (from the menu or the toolbar icon). It stays as the user set it.
- **Launch setting:** Whether opening patients from the dashboard is on. It resets to "on" whenever Chrome restarts.
- **CCM options:** Which of the six CCM options are on. They stay as the user set them.
- **Button position:** Where the user dragged the extension's round button, one spot for eCW and one for the dashboard.
- **Pending request:** If eCW is still loading or at the login screen, the account number waiting to be opened is held in temporary session storage for up to 5 minutes, then discarded. Session storage is cleared when Chrome closes.
A short troubleshooting log is kept in page memory while the page is open. Account numbers are removed from the log, and the log is cleared when the page is closed or reloaded. It is copied to the clipboard only if the user clicks "Copy log."
No settings or data are synced or transmitted.
## Permissions
- **storage:** Saves the settings and button position, and briefly holds a pending request while eCW loads, as described above.
- **scripting:** Runs the extension's own packaged scripts in an eCW tab that was already open before the extension was installed or reloaded, and presses Enter in the eCW search field when eCW requires it.
- **Host access to the practice's eCW site (scfposz5g9m6cb8zm8app.ecwcloud.com):** Lets the extension find the user's eCW tab, carry out the patient search and navigation, and click the CCM timer buttons there.
- **Content scripts on googleusercontent.com:** The Dashboard is a Google Apps Script web app, and Google serves these apps from googleusercontent.com frames. The extension checks for the Dashboard and does nothing on any other page.
## Third Parties
eCW Rocket does not integrate any third-party services, libraries, analytics platforms, or advertising networks. No data is sold or shared with third parties.
## Children's Privacy
eCW Rocket is intended only for licensed medical practice staff and is not designed for or directed at children.
## Your Responsibility
Users are responsible for using eCW Rocket in line with their organization's HIPAA and data-security policies, and for confirming that CCM time recorded with the timer is accurate.
## Changes to This Policy
Any updates to this policy will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
