Trevor Noah made his debut as the host of the Emmy® and Peabody® Award– winning The Daily Show on Comedy Central. Noah joined The Daily Show with Jon Stewart in 2014 as a contributor. He continues to tour all over the world and has performed in front of sold out crowds at the Hammersmith Apollo in London and the Sydney Opera House in Australia as well as many U.S. cities. He is originally from South Africa.

Lecture/Discussion: Watch video. The historical context of apartheid and Trevor Noah’s cultural background (Black, White, Colored). Discuss what apartheid is and how it shaped cultural divisions. Identify connections with Hughes “Let America Be America Again.”
Cultural Identity: Complete the Slide Show notes work. Due at end of class on Wednesday, 2/26
Read Immorality Act, 1927 and first chapter Run (pages. 1-7 by beginning of class on Wednesday, 2/26.
