Senior Carlye Graef talks about independent reading in English IV!
"I think it's awesome that you're so enthusiastic about reading as well. Most people don't read anymore and will look at something lengthy and groan. Independent reading has been fun and has allowed me to pick a book that catches my attention." - Dani G.
Ever since I've been in this class, I've read a lot more. To be honest, I don't really like reading books that much. I feel like I can't find one that's interesting to me. This semester, I have read four books. You may not believe it, but that's the most I've read in one semester. I also read to my little cousin when I'm home; he loves it." - Marianna O.
"When I read, I've started writing words down that I don't know so I can look them up later...In some books there is vocab that I don't know, which makes it hard to understand. My speed for reading is getting better. I read more books this semester than this time last year." - Riley S.
"Although it is true I loved writing and sorta liked the classical stories, reading my own book has always been my favorite. I hope next semester we can go back to dedicating a part of class to just reading." - Brooke K.
"I won't be here next semester but I've read more this semester than I have most of high school. My goal for life out of schools is to continue to read independently." - Destiny W.
"But the number one thing I've learned is to how to actually read and comprehend a book. I feel that I have improved as a reader because I don't find myself re-reading sentences over and over again." - Lezlee B.
"I think that my reading has actually improved this year...Book club was actually fun. I think reading a book along with someone else was cool so we could talk about the book." - Ashley N.
"I have read way more this semester than I would have last year. Next semester I think we should get more reading days." - Courtnie S.
"I believe we need more independent reading time." Aaliyah R.
"I read Torn Away in like four days. I just got really into it really fast. I couldn't put it down. That's never happened before." Allison L.
