The project has a different execution in each class, depending on standards and pacing guides! It is part of the Games4Change Student Challenge competition!
Coded original video games involving meaningful, cross-curricular topics and storylines, which created unique experiences for game players and brought value to the world through raising awareness of societal issues (ex: litter, animal welfare, disabilities & inclusivity). Games were submitted to the Games4Change Student Challenge Competition.
Related to programming, creating creative coding projects, and applying knowledge of game design software
Ranged from 1-3 months, depending on the class
GoogleDocs, Flipgrid, GoogleSites, itslearning discussion boards
Students used planning documents to outline their projects and gather research on the selected topics.
They gave weekly status updates using specific documents and video sharing procedures.
Games were shared at the conclusion of the unit.
Students were allowed to select partners (optional), game themes, and preferred coding platform/game engine.
Entered the state-level competition (winners are shared globally on the Games4Change website)
Had classmates, friends and family give feedback on the projects while in the development process
Posted to class Discussion Boards to create an arcade
