For Pet's Sake Rescue has partnered with Foster Luvs to transport animals from Mississippi to Vermont!
What is Transporting?
Transport is taking heathy animals who are pre-adopted or who could be adopted in another state, carefully placing them into organized carries or kennels in our transport van and traveling a long journey out of Mississippi and into other states.
Why do we Transport?
For Pet's Sake Rescue believes that for each animal, there is a perfect forever home awaiting them. We transport to decrease kennel time, increase adoptions, and to help other shelters make room for incoming animals.
How do We Transport?
We transport once or twice a month. Each transport begins with a request from our partners or an assessment by our Director. Each animal must pass a health exam. Finally, we prepare our van with food, water, cat hammocks, puppy pads, and pets then drive off to new horizons!
We have transported 854 animals out of MS in 2023
We transported 73 animals in 2024 so far!
Bear's Transport!
Bear was left abandoned by his owner after being incarcerated. Bear came to us Heartworm positive. He has been treated and is going home to NY on 1/19/2024.
Abagail's Transport!
Abagail and her pups were in a high kill shelter and at risk. We took the pups as well as Abagail. Abby was adopted in 12/2023 and now has a little furry brother to play tug of war with when they aren't enjoying the snow.
We partner with other organizations to offer their pets the opportunity to get out of the kennel and meet their forever family. The South is overpopulated leaving some of these animals to sit in kennels for years before meeting a local adopter. Transport provides the opportunity for thousands of adopters across 1,300 miles to view their profiles and give them a home.
