Helping pet owners vaccinate their pets

Thanks for Petco Love, For Pet's Sake Rescue was able to administer over 1,000 vaccines to community pet owners at no cost to them. In addition to vaccines, we were able to help with flea prevention and food/litter supplies on a case to case basis.

Dumped Puppies 8/10/2022

These 6 puppies were dumped in the middle of country land near a farm in a ditch. A good Samaritan picked them up and contacted us. We were able to bring these 6 puppies into our rescue. They received their first vaccines, deworming, and flea treatment. Thank goodness for kind people! Turns out many people passed the puppies up and didn't bother even trying to get them to a safe location.

What is fostering?

Some people have the misconception that fosters are required to pay for vetting bills or obligated to find the animal a home. This is not fostering at all. In fact, we discourage fosters finding homes without guiding potential adopters to our applications/process.

As a rescue organization, our fosters provide home, food, water, socialization, and perhaps transport to vet appointments we set when possible

We pay for all vetting, we find forever homes, and coordinate everything in between.

Fostering should be fun and rewarding!

We got our first shots, deworming, and flea treatment today

5/1/2022

A special thanks to Petco Love for their generosity! We were granted $2,500 to purchase and maintain our kennels at the facility. When we first started, most of our wire kennels were donated. Overtime, these have been worn down and rusted. This grant will help us keep ideal living enclosures for our amazing animals.

2/22/2022

For Pet's Sake Rescue is partnering with Petco Love to provide community pet owners free vaccines on 3/12/2022. We will need volunteers to make sure this community event runs smoothly. If you are interested, please email vanessa@forpetssakerescue.org

1/5/2022 We were featured on WXXV25 today!

Meet Louise. Louise is 12 years old. Isn’t she just precious?

Louise lost her sister last year and started pooping in places she wasn’t suppose to. Yesterday Louise was taken in for an owner requested euthanasia because of this behavioral problem. Nothing medically wrong.

Lucky for Louise, the wonderful vets at Fur Baby’s Veterinary Hospital didn’t like this idea and reached out to me. She was signed over and is now in our care.

Louise will spend some time in the kennel to give her some time to adapt to this change. Don’t worry I’ve been paying special attention to her. I will bring her home to see if a new environment corrects the problem soon. Honestly, I’ve already been tempted to do this but she needs time.

Here’s the thing: when we lose those we love, we act different. Animals have feelings. Animal behaviors can change.

Send Louise love!

Saturday we walked into the facility to find premature kittens. Though we have experience with neonatal kittens and bottle feeding, these were much too small for us to handle. We were lucky enough to find a vet offering help with tube feeding and an incubator. Check out the kittens in the video below.

The media did great stories about these cats. We appreciate their time! You can check out their stories below.

11/5/2021    THE HOARDING CASE

We were contacted and advised that there was a hoarding issue in Moss Point. The owner had left all the cats and moved to North Carolina. Though we did not truly have the room for these cats, how does one say no? We went to pick up what we were told were 30 cats - it ended up being 41!!!

We are blessed to have local Long Beach businesses support our mission and help as drop off locations for food, flea treatment, towels, cat beds, cat toys, etc:

The Coffee Box, 578 Klondyke Road

Sister Swank 200 Jeff Davis Ave, Suite 2

Huff N Puff 5132 Beatline Road, Suite D

Even our local Scouts are helping! Each cub who participates will also earn their Community Service badge. Their info is:

Biloxi Scout Hut for Cub Scout Pack 212, 2109 Camp Wilkes Road, Biloxi, MS. Drop off Mondays, Tuesdays or Thursdays 6:30pm & 8pm

You can contact any Scout In Troop 212, Pack 212 (Biloxi), Troop 316 (Pass Christian) or Troop 21 (Diamondhead) as well.

The numbers are in!! In 30 days of transport, For Pet's Sake Rescue moved 108 felines. That is a big number for our first run at this. Thank you all so much for your support as we widen the horizon and dream big.

9/22/2021

We are gearing up for our largest transport yet. We will be moving 48 cats to the Midwest tonight! Once we safely deliver those babies, we will head back to MS and get 6 puppies and 4-10 cats loaded and head to NY. It is a busy week but saving lives always takes priority.

Hurricane Ida hit our sister state, Louisiana. For Pet's Sake Rescue sprung into action getting in contact with animal rescue organizations. We needed to get animals out of LA and make room for the animals rescued during search & rescue missions. During this time, we reached out to our community and gathered donations to take to Rescue Alliance in Gonzalez, LA while we were picking up animals to transport to NY. Our results for a 4 day donation drive was incredible.

We were on a mission to St Louis, MO! We transported 20 cats to Stray Rescue. We were greeted by wonderful staff. These babies are now available for adoption at Stray Rescue of St. Louis - View Adoptable Cats

July 29, 2021

We found a building. The owner has agreed to let us occupy the space with our rescues. The location is perfect. Once we obtained the approval from the owner, we went to the City of Long Beach and started our application process for a Privilege License. We will have to submit a request to the Planning Commission. The next meeting is August 17, 2021. We will have an answer on August 18, 2021. Keep For Pet's Sake Rescue in your prayers. These are big moves for us. This will allow us to handle more rescues, give us a laundry room, wash room for animals, storage space, and quarantine room/sick room.

For Pet's Sake Rescue is currently working on transport opportunities. Our goal is to take as many cats and dogs out of the Southeast into Northern and Midwest states. This is a collaboration with two other animal rescues located in Alabama and Florida.

The Southeast is overpopulated with stray and unwanted animals. Shelters are closed to the public which leads owners to dumping. At this time, shelters are euthanizing at alarming rates. When overpopulation is an issue, adoptions become scarce.

That is when transportation is the only hope. Help us on our mission to save more animal lives. Please click on the donation tab to make a contribution. Each transport saves between 10-30 lives.

Don't forget to follow us on social media to watch how your donations contribute.
