Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled time and check in at the front office with a valid photo ID (student AND parent). Please be aware that arriving early is important, and late arrivals may result in a student being turned away. Because testing times vary, please coordinate pickup times directly with the school to ensure you arrive promptly when your student completes testing for the day.
o Approved forms of identification include passports, military IDs, Florida IDs from the DMV (with photo), or an FLVS Full Time Public Schools student ID.
Starting July 1, 2025, Florida House Bill 1105 placed new limits on when students can use cell phones and other wireless devices at schools. Your student may or may not be allowed to bring a cell phone into the test site. Please contact your test site directly or ask at drop off about specific test site policies. Students must follow the test site's Code of Conduct. You can find the school’s Code of Conduct on their website
Students are welcome to bring bottled water in clear containers and snacks. Each school site will have specific rules regarding where food and drink will be kept during testing but it is always a good idea to bring these things in a purse or small backpack in the case of extended testing or delayed starts. If the school requires that the student bring a lunch it will be noted in the “Important Notes” section of the email sent with dates and times. For more specific information about what is allowed please contact the test site.
· How will we know the drop-off/pick-up procedures? Park in guest parking and enter through the front office with your photo ID and your student’s photo ID. Any additional drop-off procedures, if provided by the school, will be noted in the Important Notes section of the testing email received prior to the test date. If there are additional questions about pick-up procedures, please ask the front office staff when you check in on test day.
· Can another family member pick up our student? Yes, this must be prearranged with the school site during drop-off so everyone is aware. Anyone picking up students should have a photo ID.
· What time should we plan to pick up our student? Please ask when you drop-off your student or leave a phone number with the front office staff to receive a call when the student has completed testing. Pick-up times may vary due to testing times, extended time, or other factors. Because testing times vary, you are expected to coordinate pickup times directly with the school to ensure you arrive promptly when your student finishes testing for the day.
· Should we send a lunch? If the school requires that the student bring a lunch it will be noted in the “Important Notes” section of the email sent with dates and times. We recommend that students bring an unopened water bottle. Please contact the test site directly if you have questions about bringing a small snack.
· If there is an unexpected change in date/time for testing (i.e. internet outage), how will we know? If you arrive for drop-off and are informed of a date change, please ask for the new schedule and share the new dates with your homeroom teacher. In addition, families should monitor email for any date changes that FLVS receives.
· If there is an issue at the school site, is there a particular person that we should ask to speak with at the physical school? Yes, please ask for the Testing Coordinator or school administrator, and be sure to identify yourself as an FLVS Full Time Public School student (not home education). If you are unable to speak with someone at the school, contact your homeroom teacher. Do NOT leave the school until you speak with an FLVS staff member (administrator, HR teacher, or assessment specialist) and they verbally let you know of the resolution. FLVS will work with the school site to schedule a makeup date if the student is unable to test.
· What do we do if there is an emergency at the school? When you drop off your student, please inform the front office staff of your preferred method of contact during an emergency and provide your current contact information.
· Can students leave once finished with testing? Students must follow the test site’s procedures for dismissal.
· How long does each test usually take? Testing times vary based on the test and school policies; please be flexible.
· Is there a waiting area for parents? Some schools allow parents to wait on campus; others require them to leave campus and return at test completion. Parents should be respectful of the procedures set by the school as safety of all students is their top priority.
· What happens if we arrive late? Being prompt on test day is important and families should prepare for traffic and parking delays. Students who arrive late for their scheduled testing time may be turned away. If you know that you are going to arrive late, please contact the test site.
