Discussion Based Assessments
What is a DBA?
Discussion Based Assessments (DBA) are built into every course and are an opportunity for the student and teacher to discuss the course material up to that given point in the course. This allows the teacher to assess the current level of understanding. Teachers work to make this an engaging opportunity for students, so they feel comfortable showing what they know and interacting with course material. Students may be nervous about completing their DBA, but they shouldn't be. This is their time to show what they know!
DBAs are a mandatory part of each course.
You will complete 1 DBA per semester in each course, including Special Area courses.
DBAs are completed in Zoom but can be done over phone if necessary.
Due dates of the DBA are listed on the Pace Charts and appear in the students' assessments and gradebook.
Teachers will let students know when they can schedule an appointment to complete their DBA in a timely manner.
If the DBA has not been completed in a course, then a grade of F will be assigned as the final grade in the course regardless of the grade in the course material.
