Academic Integrity
Academic Integrity
Academic integrity means that all work you submit is created by you and is an original representation of your work. It means that what you submit is your own work. Student academic integrity is a core value and universal expectation at Florida Virtual School.
The student's role at Florida Virtual School is to learn to the best of their ability. Students are responsible for submitting and protecting their own, original work. FVES students will maintain academic integrity in their FVES classroom by:
Participating in DBAs and following the required FLVS protocol-completed between student and instructor only, free of outside influence, assistance, or disruptions.
Asking questions regarding academic integrity if they are unsure.
Taking a proctored exam or progress monitoring when asked to do so.
Keeping their work secure:
Students will not share work with any other student.
Students will not share their username and/or password.
Students will not store their work on a shared or public device unless it is password protected.
Parents/guardians/learning coaches are our partners in supporting student learning and play a key role in their student's success. They are responsible for monitoring student work to ensure compliance with the FLVS Academic Integrity Policy and will help maintain academic integrity by:
Ensuring that their student's work is authentic and original.
Ensuring that FLVS protocol regarding DBAs is followed.
Understanding the student's proctored progress monitoring requirements.
View the Academic Integrity module in Educator for additional information on academic integrity, how to avoid plagiarism, and a self-check quiz.
Students' assignments should be in their own handwriting. Students should not copy and paste information from the internet but put it into their own words. Students should do their work on tests and assignments without unauthorized assistance from family and friends.
