You will login to the course by accessing your DASHBOARD. When viewing your dashboard, you will see all of your current courses. To enter the English 1 course, you will click on “COURSE," which will take you to the home page / announcements page of your English 1 course!

As you enter the course, the first page you will see is your ANNOUNCEMENTS PAGE, or Home Page. There are many resources available to you to help you be successful in the course.

LIVE LESSON INFORMATION AND CALENDAR:
The last section on the announcements page offers information about attending live lessons, along with our live lesson calendar! Our live lessons are available Monday - Thursday each week. The live lesson calendar is updated monthly to show the live lesson topic, the days live lessons are offered, and the times that live lessons are being offered.

3. ACCESSING THE MAIN MENU AND TOOLS
At the top of your course, on the blue bar, you will find the MAIN MENU AND TOOLS for your English 1 course! During your time in this class, you will use these main menu buttons to navigate the course - Lessons, Assessments, Gradebook, Email, and Tools. Review the course menu and tools, and reach out to your teacher with any questions about navigating the class!

LESSONS: The lessons are like your textbook. You will access the modules through the lessons tab. Click on each lesson and read the lesson before submitting any work. At the end of each lesson, it will explain the assignment to complete.
It is best to work through the course, in order. Many of the assignments build on each other throughout the class.

Use the forward and back buttons to navigate through each page of the lesson.
As you read through each lesson, it is important to read each slide carefully, while completing all of the interactives and self checks.
Try using our GUIDED NOTES (need to link) for each lesson to help take notes as you read!
Then, at the end of each lesson, you will find your assignment and the instructions for submission. Assessments come in the form of quizzes and written assignments.
Quizzes: Most quizzes have numerous short response questions that will need to be answered in complete sentences.
Written Assignments: Written assignments should be submitted in the form of a file (pdf, rtf, word, etc) and all assignments must be typed.

ASSESSMENTS: Now that you have read through the lesson, it is time to submit your assignment. To submit your assessment or take a quiz in the course, you will access the assessments tab.
The assessments tab works as a "to-do" list. Once you complete an assignment, it will no longer show on your assessments tab. This way, you will know what assignments you have left to complete in the course.

GRADEBOOK: Your gradebook is where you will go to review feedback from your teacher about your submitted assignments, see your grade for each assignment, resubmit assignments, if needed, and much more!
At the top of your Gradebook, you will find helpful information to keep you on track during your time in the course. You should keep track of your Weeks Active (remember, this course is designed to be completed in 16 weeks per segment), your grade, and your progress in the course by looking at the number of assignments you have remaining to complete.
You should work in the order of the class to ensure no assignments are skipped. After you complete an assignment, you can review your grade for each assignment in the Gradebook. You can also click on each assignment to review your teacher's feedback!
Resubmitting Assignments:
Did you know ...if you aren’t happy with your grade when you submit an assignment, you can resubmit the assignment for a higher grade, not once…but TWICE?!
Resubmitting a Quiz?
Here’s How:
Go to your GRADEBOOK and click on the assignment.
Review your teacher’s feedback for the assignment.
Revise the assignment based on your teacher’s feedback.
Then, “reset” the quiz at the top and try it again!
Resubmitting a Written Assignment?
Here’s How:
Go to your GRADEBOOK and click on the assignment.
Review your teacher’s feedback for the assignment.
Revise the assignment based on your teacher’s feedback.
Then, upload your new file and submit for grading!

ADDITIONAL TOOLS: The Tools button is a treasure chest of resources. Here, you'll find pace charts, academic integrity guidelines, Microsoft Office information, and much more.

EMAIL: Your email is where you will go to receive messages from your teacher and to communicate with your teacher.
Be sure to check your email daily, for class announcements, assignment feedback, or any other communication from your teacher!
