A solid slide deck is a work of art. To create a digital presentation that an audience can appreciate, there are some do's and don'ts to keep in mind. Review the suggestions and utilize them as you're creating your slide deck.
Consistent Look
and Feel
Each slide needs to feel part of the same story.
Use the same colors, font style, and imagery across your slides.
Create a consistent style that your audience can easily recognize from slide to slide.
Easy to
Read Text
Make the text large enough to easily read from anywhere in the room.
Don't experiment with multiple types of texts, colors, and features on the same slide.
Avoid using fonts that are too fancy or difficult to read
Use contrasting colors for text and background.
Meaningful
Images
Photographs, clipart, and other multimedia need to be kept simple.
They'll need to speak strongly about the concept you're talking about—unrelated images may confuse your audience.
Stick to ones that are simple to understand and that the audience can connect easily to your topic.
Avoid image overuse—too many images can make a slide look cluttered.
Don't have things flash, blink, or pulse for more than a second or two.
Clear and
Simple Message
Keep directing your audience back to your message or central idea.
After each major subpoint in your presentation, you'll want to tie it back to the central idea.
Review vital points at the end of the presentation to hone your message.
